Hello to everyone from Stonewalk
by Dot Walsh, The Peace Abbey

Bruce, Jim, Yoko, Andrea and myself have been graciously taken care of with food and overnite hospitality. Regardless of the weather we are keeping to the schedule. Little by little when we meet after pulling the stone people begin to express their thoughts about war and peace. Today one man talked about his grandfather dying in the war in China. He said that he began to think about article nine in the Japanese Constitution and how important it was to keep this.

I have been overwhelmed at times and filled with appreciation and gratitude for The Peace Abbey and for our commitment to honor civilian deaths. Lewis was truly inspired to create Stonewalk.

The recent tragedy in London only further convinces me that the movement of the stone with its message is perhaps one of the most meaningful ways of bringing the message to the people and raising awareness about the suffering that results from war.

Our thoughts are not only with the Hibakusha whose spirits rest in the stone but also with all people who have pulled the stone and supported Stonewalk.

To the people of London and England we express our sorrow and ask that our friends in Coventry please place some flowers on the Memorial Stone that rests on the grounds of St. Michaels Cathedral to remember the innocent victims of the bombings.

Namaste

Dot
