Stonewalk Japan 2005 STONEWALK JAPAN 2005
Nagasaki to Hiroshima, Japan
July 2nd to August 4th, 2005

On the 60th Anniversary of the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

On August 6, 1945, the city of Hiroshima was the target of the first atomic bomb used against civil population in history. Three days later, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb over the city of Nagasaki. In total, about one quarter of a million people were killed by the two bombs. Today, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and the country of Japan are strongly engaged in banning nuclear weapons and their testing worldwide.

Stonewalk Japan 2005 marks the 60th anniversary of the thousands killed by the atomic bombs, with a peace walk from Nagasaki July 2nd, to Hiroshima, August 4th.

Mission Statement

The Memorial Stone honoring all people throughout the world who have suffered as a result of war will be pulled on a specially made caisson along the roads through the towns and cities in the five prefectures from Nagasaki to Hiroshima, Japan.

Our Goals

To honor all victims of armed conflict especially the victims of the atomic bombings in Nagasaki and Hiroshima during the 60th anniversary.

To create a non-political model that educates the public about civilian casualties and the true cost of war.

To serve as a historic milestone as it passes through bringing people together to remember and lament and seek reconciliation as a commitment to peace.

To seek atonement and forgiveness for the suffering of all victims and family members not only in Japan but in all countries in Asia and the world.
