Stonewalk 2004 USA

While politicians convene in Boston and New York this summer, family members of 9/11 victims will make a dramatic statement of solidarity with victims of terrorism, violence and war from around the world. From July 26 through September 2, they will walk from Boston to New York, pulling a 1400-pound granite memorial honoring the "Unknown Civilians Killed in War."

Prayer for Stonewalk by Rev. Chloe Breyer

A PRAYER FOR STONEWALK 2004.

By Rev. Chloe Breyer

Oh God of many names,
Lover of all peoples
Who has said that when people
are silent, stones will cry out.

We remember and honor those
who have died as a result of
terrorism and war.

We honor the memory of those
civilian casualties in the U.S.
and around the world whose
deaths have gone unmarked.

On this day we ask your
blessing on those who walk
and work for peace;
who challenge our leaders to
consider the true human cost of war;
who pray with humility for
an end of violent conflict.

We ask these things in Your
Holy Name, trusting that
the peace of our need will
be the peace of your will.

Amen
